Eisenstadt sightseeing: palaces, churches and Haydn's legacy
Eisenstadt's sights split neatly between the flat old town and the Oberberg hill above it. Down on Esterházyplatz, the Esterházy Palace is the one attraction that runs on fixed tour times, and Monday and Tuesday are tour-only days. From there, Joseph-Haydn-Gasse leads past the Haydn-Haus and the Franciscan church, while Dom St. Martin and the Jewish Museum sit within a short walk.
The hill climb is the other half of the picture. The Bergkirche holds Haydn's tomb, a Calvary loop and, inside the same complex, the Diözesanmuseum's church art. Steps make the walk up a little slower, and services can close the interior, so time it around Mass.
Some stops cost nothing: the cathedral and the Landesgalerie Burgenland, which takes under an hour, are both free. The palace charges €19 plus a tour supplement, and the Landesmuseum Burgenland is €5. Its doors open only Thursday to Sunday, and the Haydn-Haus closes over the winter weeks, so check the calendar before you build a day.

Dom St. Martin Eisenstadt: Visiting the Cathedral
Eisenstadt's cathedral on Domplatz is still an active parish church, not a ticketed monument, so there are no posted visitor hours. Check the parish's rolling service list and step in quietly between Masses.

Schlosspark Eisenstadt: Visiting the Esterházy Palace Park
The landscaped garden on the edge of Eisenstadt's historic center, beside Esterházy Palace. The walk is self-guided, so download the free four-language park plan first; on festival days the grounds belong to the concert crowd instead.
about an hour · Free · Best for calm garden strolls

Landesgalerie Burgenland in Eisenstadt: Visitor Guide
Burgenland's state gallery for contemporary art, with a program of rotating exhibitions by regional and other artists. Admission is free, and a visit takes under an hour, so it slots easily between the palace and the Bergkirche.

Rathaus Eisenstadt: Visiting the Town Hall on Hauptstraße
The Rathaus is Eisenstadt's working city office at Hauptstraße 35, not a building you tour; there's no visitor program and no ticket. Find the number, read the signage, and move on to the palace and museums nearby.
about five minutes · no ticket to buy for the town hall itself · Best for orientation stop on a Hauptstraße walk
Free stops in the old town and on the hill
Dom St. Martin on Domplatz is a working parish church, not a ticketed monument, so there is nothing to pay and no posted visitor hours. The Landesgalerie Burgenland also admits everyone free, and its rotating contemporary exhibitions take under an hour. Schlosspark, beside the palace, is free to walk; download the four-language park plan before you set out. The Rathaus on Hauptstraße is a working city office rather than a tour, which makes it a five-minute orientation stop on a Hauptstraße walk, not a sight in itself.
What to reserve before you go
Only the Esterházy Palace asks for advance planning. Tours run at fixed hours, admission is €19 with a tour supplement extra, and Monday and Tuesday are tour-only, so book a slot rather than turning up. For the Bergkirche and the Diözesanmuseum in the same complex, confirm current hours with the diocese first, and plan church visits around Mass rather than posted opening times.
