Methodology
How we research what to see and do in Austrian towns.
Our Editorial Philosophy
A good town break depends on your interests, season and pace. We describe each town's sights using cited sources, then explain what to expect and what to check.
How We Choose What to Include
Recommendations consider these criteria and explain their limits:
- 1
Trip fit
Match the traveler, timing and the question the guide answers.
- 2
Scope
Check what a ticket, tour or combined pass includes, including stated restrictions.
- 3
Season and opening
Distinguish published seasonal hours from current live availability.
- 4
Evidence
Cite factual claims and identify unsupported or uncertain details.
What We Don't Rank By
Understanding what we explicitly exclude matters for trust.
- ✗Affiliate commission rates
- ✗Paid placement
- ✗Invented visits
- ✗Unverified guarantees
Where Our Data Comes From
Our recommendations synthesize multiple signal types. We prioritize signals in this order:
1. Tourist boards and venues
Official descriptions, opening hours, ticket prices and seasonal notices
2. Operators
Direct descriptions of tours, boat services and booking terms
3. Attributed reporting
Published context with an identifiable source and date
Handling Uncertainty
When a source doesn't confirm a detail, the guide says so and points you to the venue or operator page to check. We'd rather be clear about what is published than guess.
